Experienced Veterinary Technician Wanted

Metro East Humane Society (MEHS) is seeking (2) part-time Certified Veterinary Technicians to join our team! A certified Veterinary Technician is preferred but experienced Veterinary Technicians without certification will be considered. The ideal candidates should have minimally 2 years’ experience working in a veterinary practice and also be a quick-thinker, able to multi-task efficiently, have excellent communication skills, exceptional leadership capabilities and must love animals, of course.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform, track and log all medical care
  • Assist veterinarian with diagnostic and surgical procedures
  • Maintain animal records
  • Track usage of all medications and supplies
  • Track budget impact costs for inventory and supplies
  • Work with intake coordinators to verify age and health status at intake
  • Communicate animal needs to staff and public effectively
  • Conduct visual and physical examinations of all animals in building on a weekly basis
  • Respond to medical concerns brought forth by animal care workers in a timely manner
  • Schedule, discuss and examine any sick or injured animals with veterinarian
  • Organize public and MEHS surgical schedule – pre-surgical record preparation and post-surgical releases and record entries.
  • Work with veterinarian and community cat program coordinator to establish and grow TNR program

24-32 hours/weekly – Alternating weekend work required

Compensation based on experience.

Registered Vet Tech — Humane Society of Missouri

This position conducts routine exams, lab tests, administers medications and maintains animal health including treatment of sick and injured animals as directed by our veterinarians. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual that possesses knowledge of animal health care, animal restraint techniques, and surgery preparation in addition to being detail-oriented, and having excellent communication and multi-tasking skills.
