Exotic species with unique medical challenges, this talk explores how veterinary teams adapt their approach across species and work hand-in-hand with animal trainers to deliver exceptional care. Certified by the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants, Low-Stress Handling Certified Silver, and Fear Free Elite, she is an expert in creating a less stressful care experience for staff, patients, and clients. Dr. Foote has presented at national conferences, including the AVMA, VMX, and Midwest Veterinary Conference, and is a guest lecturer at various Colleges of Veterinary Medicine and other universities. With over 40 years of practice experience, Dr. Foote now focuses her time on speaking, creating online education, heading the Bella Behavior learning center in Tuscola, IL, and continuing to innovate in veterinary behavior. Dr. Foote received her DVM in 1984 from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. She is a Certified Animal Behavior Consultant by the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants, Low-Stress Handling Certified – Silver, and Fear Free Elite Certified. Missouri Controlled Substance Laws/BNDD (with Jeffrey Prosser)
Doors open at 6:00 pm, speaker at 7-9 Speaker bio: I am a retired Police Officer with 22 years of experience with the Maplewood Police Department, Ballwin Police Department and the Wentzville Police Department. I am currently working for the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Service, Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs. I started as a Senior Investigator with BNDD in September 2017 and was promoted to Asst. Bureau Administrator/Chief Investigator in August 2023. I proudly served our country as an officer in the US Army Reserve and served during Operation Joint Guard in Bosnia. Missouri Controlled Substance Laws/BNDD Lecture Summary: Veterinarians will receive an overview of the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs (BNDD) and their responsibilities when dealing with controlled substances per Federal and State law and regulations. Join Us for a Continuing Education Event at The Animal Neurology Center Dr. Kelli Zimmerman of Animal Eye Associates presents an updated version of “Ophthalmology Faux Paws,” a practical, case-based course focused on the ophthalmic conditions most commonly misdiagnosed or mismanaged in everyday veterinary practice. This engaging session emphasizes simple, effective tips and clinical pearls to enhance ophthalmic testing, diagnosis, and treatment for both veterinarians and veterinary technicians. The course begins with a concise review of essential ocular anatomy, including the lacrimal system, nasolacrimal drainage system, and cornea. From there, participants will explore common ophthalmic conditions such as dry eye disease, corneal ulcers, nasolacrimal duct obstruction, and glaucoma—learning how to recognize key findings, differentiate causes, and select appropriate initial treatment plans. Commonly used ophthalmic medications will also be reviewed, with a focus on proper use, contraindications, and avoiding common pitfalls.
